The finish line...

The earth is warm next to my ear
Insect noise is all that I hear
A magic trick makes the world disappear
The skies are dark, they're dark but they're clear

Mother Nature is giving us a much needed taste of spring. Just enough sunshine to get us through the last few gloomy days of this transitional weather. I long for the days of sunshine and warmth. The winter gloom has left me over the last few days and I've been treasuring every moment I get to spend outside, communing with the beautiful world my Father has created for me. I work hard to appreciate the beauty of winter, and I can, but for some reason this winter was particularly hard. I'm glad the gloomy curtain has lifted, and to see the happy, warm sun and the cheerful, chirping birds that come with it.

Beautiful blue jay...

I really have no great reason to blog. No pictures or anything like that. I guess I just feel like randomly throwing out a bunch of words.

The first taste of spring arrived over the weekend, and I spent every moment I could out of doors. Went for a run on Friday, Saturday picked up some Bux and met my sistah from a dif'rent mistah for a bit o' Bible study - before heading to church and then my 'rents for Sabbath lunch. After, 'Nita-pita and I headed back to her place and met up with a friend of hers before heading to First Ave for the SXSW Send-Off party. Pretty awesome concert. The music got better throughout the night, the last three acts were the best - I found a new favorite band, The Idle Hands - and renewed my passion for Sims of Doomtree as well as developed an appreciation for Solid Gold - a sort of power-pop funk band reminiscent of 70s dance-era (fun fun!). I would have liked them more but their fans were rather drunk and obnoxious and one in particular kept hitting me repeatedly with his drunken dancing.

Sunday I went with a friend to the Walker. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Elizabeth Peyton show. I was particularly attracted to her portrait of Matthew Barney (aptly named "Matthew"), of course. It was strange to look towards the Sculpture Garden and see the Spoonbridge and Cherry minus the Cherry.

After the Walker we stopped at this great little place called Tao's for a light lunch before I was dropped off. I then ran some errands and then went for a nice run outdoors. A glorious day that ended with Starbucks and sushi. Mmm.

Today was another beautiful day. Amazing how life seems more beautiful when the gloom and consuming cold lifts. I never realize how much the winter affects my mood, or how depressed I really am until that malaise lifts with the first hints of spring. On my way to work this morning, I heard a familiar call and looked up to see our resident Blue Jay perched on the railing above my garage - no doubt missing the line of trees that used to be there when last he'd been here. I hope to see more of the beautiful little bird. I closed out a hard day's work with a nice run while blasting Glasvegas, and have been relaxing with Top Gear and Chipotle. I couldn't ask for anything better.

And now, I'm off for some mint tea and thin mints. Nom nom nom. :)
